Travel Consultancy Floorplan and Moodboard
For my Space Planning class we are learning all about how to read, and develop floorplans. I really enjoy doing this, and am trying to push myself outside of the box when it comes to building rooms out. I learned a lot from this exercise as well, being that my toilets would not be able to go on an adjacent wall as I have mapped them out since it is difficult to get piping to run along a wall as I drew, specifically for a toilet.
I am also learning a lot about my design techniques, so far my mind is thinking in literal boxes when building out walls. For my final project I am going to push myself to create more movement in a space, with curved walls. This was our second project in class in which we were to design a consultancy of our choice and present our floorplans and moodboards in class. Being that I love travel, I went with a Travel Consultancy.
My concept was a high end agency where clients would be able to come and feel as though they were entering a beautiful hotel lobby on their “first stop” to the destination of their dreams. Elements of travel would accompany the sleek design, with floor design mimicking a runway, and touches of cultural motifs and sticking to a minimal color scheme to stay neutral to all clients taste and preference of travel. The program requirements were that the office had to contain an executive offie, assistant office, conference room, reception area, toilets, and a storage closet. If you take a look at the floorplan I was able to create a natural flow, while making sure there was good circulation throughout the space.
From the floorplan I began pulling images that reflected the concept, as well as furniture pulls to use as reference for the actual design.
