Ditmas Park: Charming Architecture

A charming suburb inside city limits

Yesterday I took a stroll with a friend and his adorable daughter to the Brooklyn Public Library - Cortelyou Branch and our walk took us through the historic Ditmas Park. I am embarrassed to say before this I had never been to, or spent time in the area even though we live so close! For those who have explored Ditmas Park, you know where this post is going… The charm, the architecture, the community vibe - it all captured my heart!

As we walked the streets seemed to get more charming, no two houses looked alike. You’ll see Victorian, Craftsman, Colonial, and more. I’ve also read that the neighborhood goes all out for Halloween, a must see!

I mean, just look at these houses! The way the windows and entry to the porch with a peaked arch. The colors used have a warm, inviting tone to them. It makes you want to head inside to enjoy tea and cookies! And the best part, it’s a short commute to Manhattan - this my friends may just be the neighborhood to desire for long term New York living.
